Live each day like you’re going to die.
Have you ever drove somewhere and had this sensation where you don’t remember actually driving to your destination? So have I. I generally live in either the future or the past. rarely do I find my self living in the moment, well other than jiujitsu and riding my motorcycle. Then I heard or read I don’t recall a quote from Marcus Aurelius’.
“Memento mori, remember that you will die”
What the bro meant was not to “yolo” through life not caring about the future, but simply be able to live in the moment. Stressing about the future is a tool we had to learn to stay alive, it saved us from starvation or getting eaten by a tiger. Now that we all have food and there are no more tigers to eat us, we have this tool that serves no purpose other than causing us anxiety and to worry about things we can not control. Even in Marcus Aurelius’ time, he could have worried him self to death- which many leaders in his time would.
Now, I get it. Some things you should worry about, Bills, that important meeting coming up, all sorts of things. But one thing that all of these have in common to solve. preparation. If in this moment you are worried about, lets says bills. Because lets face it Canada is not the cheapest place to live right now. There are tons of tech jobs in the states and most training online is free, or the same amount as eating out once a week. so if instead of focusing on the problem, come up with a solution and study for a certificate and get a remote job to help pay the bills. Everything has a answer.
everything.
99.9% of the problems we face someone probably has faced and put on the internet. so use that, learn from other in moments of stress. I promise if you point this mental angst at something productive it will become your best weapon.
The point I’m trying to make, is don’t worry about things you choose not to fix. I have spent most of my adult life stressing about every little fucking thing. It could be as simple as how I said hello to my friend. when I mean everything I mean everything. This concept of living as if you’re not going to do live forever has gave me a second chance on life. I find my self not stressing about the little things any more. I also have found I stopped avoiding the hard work I need to do(also why you’re reading me post on here again). Life is slowly getting brighter each day, and I hope by reading this you realize this could change your life too! insert sappy music here
I end this random ass blog post about living life better by saying this.
“We all see our selves for who we are when we close our eyes for the day. don’t be let that person you see scare you. Let that person be someone you are proud of.”
